Jessica Simpson is reportedly considering taking a one-year break from music

Following a rather bad period for her musical career, reports are now coming in saying that Jessica Simpson has decided to take a one-year break from music. Although no announcements in this regard have yet been made, word is that Jessica has already fired her band, and is looking forward for the music-less year to come.

Sources close to the singer tell LaneyGossip that she is no longer interested in making country music for the following year, as neither is she in touring. Of course, the e-zine says, this could actually be a front for Jessica’s admission of failure as to her country music career that never really took off – or that, at least, did not fly as high as her pop one did. That, plus the heat she’s been getting recently for gaining weight, has probably made her come to this decision to step out of the spotlight for a while.

“[I] am told by sources exclusively that Jessica Simpson fired her band last week after suspending the tour. She’s taking a year off. Which essentially means the label doesn’t want her, that country music doesn’t want her, that she needs to find something else to do.” LaneyGossip writes. So far, as noted above, Jessica Simpson has made no public statement regarding the alleged hiatus.

Just recently, the singer made the headlines twice, both times ending in ridicule. First, there was the “fat-gate” thing, when several media outlets rushed to judge her by her apparent weight gain and which couldn’t have been but an embarrassing moment for the star who was once named “America’s pop sweetheart.” Then, there was an incident in which she broke down on stage during a live concert, was not able to remember the lyrics to the songs she herself wrote, and could hardly find it in herself to remain on stage for a minute more.

Her publicist, as expected, explained the meltdown by pointing out that Jessica was simply trying to do everything to perfection, although the 8,000+ fans who witnessed it were probably not thinking perfection at all. “Jessica had an off night. She’s a perfectionist and wanted to start some songs over. She always wants to give the best performance for her fans.” Jessica’s publicist told TMZ two days after the meltdown.
