Apparently caused by Tony Romo not being in the audience

With all the bashing that Jessica Simpson was exposed to in recent weeks because of her weight and some of her latest career choices, it’s no wonder that it all eventually caught up with her. mLive reports that, while opening for Rascal Flatts in Grand Rapids, Jessica put one of the most awkward performances of her entire singing career, more than once forgetting her lyrics and telling the audience she wanted to walk off stage in the middle of the song.

Apparently, the singer had issues with doing her 38-minute set because Tony Romo, her boyfriend, was supposed to be in the audience and was not as he had lost his flight. It all started off well, mLive says, with Jessica telling the 8,000+ crowd that she was really happy to be there and promising fans the time of their lives. However, things started to get really weird in almost no time, the same source informs.

“While singing the ballad ‘With You,’ she paused during the middle of the song to take a drink of water while her backup singers took over the lead vocals. She continuously struggled with her ear monitors and often seemed to lose her place in several songs. She even had the band start over on the up-tempoed ‘Pray Out Loud.’” mLive reports. Things got even worse minutes later, when Jessica completely forgot “the lyrics to her single ‘Come on Over’ and [asked] for forgiveness from the audience by mouthing the word ‘sorry’ on the two video screens.”

However, the same e-zine says, it was the ending of the set that was truly a “trainwreck.” “While introducing her closing song ‘Do You Know,’ she talked about how she felt like walking off the stage. At the end of the song, she thanked her band for ‘having her back.’ And it looked as if she was wiping away tears as she walked off the stage.” mLive writes.

This would not be the first time that Jessica Simpson has issues controlling her emotions while onstage but, if the report is accurate, it could be a first in terms of not being able to go through a 30-something-minute set during a regular concert. Keep an eye on this space for more on this.
