She might not care what you or anyone else has to say about her figure, but Jessica Simpson has a very strong incentive for staying on Weight Watchers and working towards achieving her dream figure: her wedding to fiancé Eric Johnson, as she admits in a new interview with People magazine.

This is the second time Simpson is on the weight loss plan, having stopped doing it the first time because she became pregnant again. So far, she’s lost 50 pounds (22.6 kg) but she says she’s determined to keep up the hard work and feel good about herself again.

“The new year will definitely bring on the wedding bells, which is exciting… I think it’s about time,” Jessica laughs about her prolonged engagement and the often-pushed back wedding date.

“Knowing that I have the wedding coming up is an incentive to stay on Weight Watchers, count my points and stay in the gym. I mean, when you see my dress, you’ll know,” she adds.

She doesn’t say when exactly the wedding will take place, but reports online claim it will happen in October, in some remote and very romantic location in Italy, which the two visited in 2010.

What she does say though is that New Year’s resolutions aren’t necessarily made to be broken, and that the key to success as far as weight loss goes at least, is to always set attainable goals for yourself. This is where Weight Watchers came in handy for her, she admits.

Of course, Weight Watchers also came in handy because it offered her a support system and ready-meals, as well as a very strict method to keep tabs on her progress. Coupled with regular workouts, it has helped her lose the pregnancy weight and get back in shape.

“For me, losing weight was ‘hashtag get started,’ because every week for me was a new week and a new goal and I need to re-encourage myself to have that drive we all have when we first get started. I think if you do set resolutions for yourself, it shouldn’t be something grand,” she says.

“I’m just trying to feel good in a pair of jeans and T-shirt. I can’t wait to be able to feel just comfortable in my skin and know that I’m back to the person I’ve been before. I know this time I’m going to be so much stronger and so much more empowered, because I really earned it and I really got here, and took the steps to get here,” Jessica adds.
