“Love what you look like right now – and remember I said it 10 years from now,” Jennifer Love Hewitt says of having a healthy body image

After long intervals of bad media, Jennifer Love Hewitt is again making a stand: she’s lost all the extra weight and wants the entire world to know it by posing in a white two-piece swimsuit for the cover of People magazine. Still, it’s not all about the weight loss, she says in the accompanying article because the message she’s trying to send is another one: women should love their bodies no matter how they look and, most importantly, of what others tell them.

As noted above, the former teen idol has seen her fair share of negativity in the press on issues that had nothing to do with her professional achievements, but she’s done paying attention to them. Good looks are important, she says, but not to the extent of letting negativity on them run and ruin one’s life. Because of this, the message she’d want all women to keep in mind is to cherish one’s body as it is and not fret over what others may say of it.

“In a world that’s overly focused on body image, Jennifer Love Hewitt is urging young women not to obsess about weight – because it’s simply not worth it. ‘When I meet young girls, I’m always like, “Just do me one favor,”’ she tells PEOPLE in its new issue. ‘Love what you look like right now – and remember I said it 10 years from now because it’s the greatest gift I can give.’ Having already witnessed first-hand how tough it can be to love your own figure – the 31-year-old spoke out against critics in December 2007 when unflattering photos of her on the beach surfaced – Hewitt says she first focused on getting a mind makeover,” People magazine writes in an article in its latest issue.

Though she did manage to get that mind makeover, Jennifer is not out of the woods just yet. “I just really worked on my mental part for a couple of weeks, got myself in a really good mindset. I think I’m a work in progress. [But] I feel it’s so much better than [it was] a year-and-a-half ago, and I feel like in another eight months, it’s going to be so much better than it is today. I’d want to have Gisele Bundchen’s body. Even though she’s tall and skinny, she does have curves… and I think that’s hot. Halle Berry also is kind of amazing,” the actress goes on to say.

As we also informed you on several past occasions, Love’s new approach as regards her body is one where she doesn’t pay that much attention to criticism. At the same time, she’s staying healthy by eating right and working out whenever she gets the chance – and that too is another important message coming from her.
