The Nintendo 3DS handheld has once again topped the hardware chart on the Japanese internal market, a situation that will probably continue until the end of the year release of the Wii U home console from the same company.

At the same time, My Little Sister Can’t Be This Cute Can’t Be Continuing, a game for the PlayStation Portable, has taken over the number one position in the software sphere.

The Nintendo 3DS has managed to sell 45,752 units for the week that ended on May 20, which is just a slight decline when compared to the 46,425 devices moved to gamers during the previous seven-day period.

The PlayStation 3 home consoles from Sony has also seen a decline of close to 1,000 units in order to post sales of 12,026 for the week while the older PlayStation Portable, also from Sony, has sold 10,652 devices during the week, a solid drop from 12,247.

The new PlayStation Vita is in deep trouble, even if it has not seen another weekly decline, because it has only managed to sell 6,347 units in a seven-day period, which is way below the expectations of Sony and the various market watchers.

The Nintendo Wii is also steadily dropping sales but stays ahead of the PlayStation 2, the Xbox 360 from Microsoft and the various version of the DSi handheld.

My Little Sister Can’t Be This Cute Can’t Be Continuing from Namco Bandai and for the PlayStation Portable has managed to be the biggest title for the week, selling 53,175 copies during its first week on sales.

Second place was taken over by Mario Party 9 for the Wii, which has moved 25,123 copies and has reached a life time total of close to 360,000 while third place was occupied by Persona 2: Eternal Punishment, from Atlus, a new release that only reached sales of 24,547.

The rest of the top ten in Japan is made up of: Fire Emblem: Awakening, Brothers Conflict Passion Pink, Super Mario 3D Land, Mario Kart 7, Monster Hunter Tri G, Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City and Kid Icarus: Uprising.
