Sales for all gaming platforms have dropped precipitously on the Japanese market, according to numbers provided by tracking firm Media Create, with the PlayStation 3 from Sony managing to be the best seller of the week just as Another Century's Episode Portable managed to took over the number one position when it comes to video game sales.

The PlayStation 3 has managed to sell 33,190 units during the last seven days, which is significantly lower than the 59,612 it has managed to move during the previous period, but succeeded in holding on to the top position.

Second place went to the PlayStation Portable handheld, which posted sales of 29,806 units, going slightly up from 28,757, probably on strong sales of a new game for the platform.

The Nintendo Wii has taken third spot, with figures which went down to 21,291 from 56,547, while the DSi LL version of the Nintendo handheld has gone from 44,122 to 17,452.

The DSi has shown sales of 13,416 followed by the Xbox 360 with 2,636, the DS Lite and the PlayStation 2.

It's unlikely that sales numbers will rebound significantly before the launch of the Nintendo 3DS handheld, which is planned to take place on February 26.

Another Century's Episode Portable is the best selling video game of the week, with the PlayStation Portable title from Namco Bandai managing to move 70,217 copies in its first days on sales and pushing Monster Hunter Freedom 3 from Capcom to second spot for the first time, with 68,274 copies sold in seven days.

Third place went to Donkey Kong Country Returns from Nintendo for the Wii, with sales of 29,412.

The rest of the top ten is made up of: Ni no Kuni: The Ebony Wizard, AKB1/48: If I loved an Idol, Arcana Heart 3, Wii Party, Pokemon Black and White, Dynasty Warriors: Gundam 3 and Mario Sports Mix.
