Details about Sopranos star James Gandolfini's trip to Italy have emerged after the actor died in Rome yesterday.

As reported, officials believe that he has suffered a heart attack, but autopsy results are still underway. The owner of a tattoo parlor who talked to him in LA before his death recalled that he was planning to get a special tattoo.

According to USA Today, Gandolfini took the trip to Italy to reconnect with his family's roots. He also planned to attend the Taormina Film Festival in Sicily over the weekend.

"He was so happy to be in Italy, to reconnect with his Italian roots, and he was very excited to come here and receive this award," the festival's artistic director Mario Sesti reveals.

While the actor was born and lived in New Jersey, his parents lived in Italy for a large part of their lives.
