The tabloids are already billing this the first sign that Jake Gyllenhaal and Taylor Swift are working on a reconciliation: he flew all the way to Nashville to have dinner with her, it has emerged.

Though the two stars dates for only 2 months, interest in their romance has been huge and not only because they appeared to be a very unlikely item.

The romance ended just as abruptly as it had began, with Gyllenhaal reportedly choosing to break it off with Taylor over the phone, just when she thought things couldn’t be any better.

Now, it would seem that Jake is trying to make amends – or, at least, help Taylor get some closure. People reports they had dinner together the other day.

“The two stars, whose brief relationship fizzled in December, arrived quietly together on Wednesday at Bound’ry, a restaurant near Swift’s Nashville condo, and were led back to a table for two, according to a patron,” People writes.

“They did eat. They were cordial to one another, but not affectionate,” the eyewitness explains.

Another source also confirms that there wasn’t the least sign of animosity between the two, though saying they were getting back together would be a bit of a stretch at this point.

“There was no holding hands, but they seemed happy together. They sat next to the fireplace just chatting away,” dishes the second eyewitness.

Understandably, this has prompted all kinds of speculation online, with fans and celebrity bloggers alike. Some fans choose to believe they’re working out their difference, others say this is for closure only.

Bloggers are more cynical in their approach of the topic: this one, for instance, believes this is Jake’s way of getting some heat off of him because he’s been getting a lot of negative media for the relationship and the breakup.

In other words, because he dumped Taylor over the phone and he got criticized for it, he’s pulling this little PR stunt to make it right with the media, it is being said.

As it happens, whether that is or isn’t the case, fans will probably never know.
