The F300 multimedia handset is, just like its bigger brother the F500, a mobile device that will surely get a lot of attention after its announcement at the ITU Telecom World 2006 convention. The thing that makes it a phone to be noticed is its multimedia full featured spec sheet that this time, unlike the one sported by the F500, focuses on the MP3 playback capabilities. Another fact that makes it one of those weird, but desirable devices that everyone lays his/her eyes on from time to time is its dual face.

Yes, this one is a two-headed handset just like the dragons you know from the fairy tales of your childhood. The first face is for its MP3 player mode and the second is for the phone mode. You can switch from one to the other with the help of a side button so you will be able to use it as a cell phone when in phone mode, having at your disposal a small screen and a numeric keypad, or as a multimedia player, a mode that will let you make use of the 2.1 inch 256k colors TFT LCD working on a resolution of 176x220 pixels. In the latter one you can listen to music in MP3, AAC, AAC+ and WMA format, watch the video clips you downloaded or recorded with the built-in 2 megapixel digital camera.

Other features sported by this handset are the wireless Bluetooth connectivity with A2DP stereo support, the EDGE and GPRS data transfer technologies, the FM radio, the USB connectivity, the touch screen interface, the built-in 100 MB memory and the microSD memory expansion card slot with support for up to 2 GB memory cards.

Because the tri-band F300 has a second face on its back, the battery will be built-in and if you want to replace it you will have to go to a Samsung service center so, if you plan to get your hands on it after its 1st quarter 2007 expected release date, you can start collecting addresses of such service centers just in case something goes wrong.
