It seems that we'll see another Square Enix masterpiece

This is not just a fanboy speaking, when I say that Final Fantasy VII has made the long-running series what it now is: the definition of the perfect RPG. It did miracles, ten years ago, when it surfaced, boosting the PSX sales and making the players who have never heard about Squaresoft (at the time, Square Enix now) give their titles a shot.

Will Final Fantasy XIII do the same, this time on the PS3? In 1997, FF VII stunned the players with its 3 CD-s filled with cutscenes, intelligent battles, a superb control system and 40 hours of gameplay. It's no wonder that the title spawned two sequels, Dirge of Cerberus and Crisis Core and a movie, Advent Children. The thirteenth installment in the saga will invade our PS3, being announced as a series of three titles called Fabula Nova Crystallis. The most famous of them are Versus and the standard Final Fantasy XIII.

There are more similarities between the ten-year old hit title and the upcoming FF game, like the fact that both hit the market a year or two after their gaming platform was launched. Final Fantasy VII was launched in 1997, two years after the PSX launch, while the XIII title will be launched in 2008, a year and a half after the PS3's release. Also, you'll probably like to know that the latest FF will take full advantage of Sony's new console, so you'll use the SIXAXIS joystick and feast on graphics similar to those we've see in the Advent Children movie.

In the meantime, we're left to explore the huge world of Final Fantasy VII, as Crisis Core is ready for its Japan launch, a week from now. There's also a surprise coming from Square Enix and it also seems FFVII-related. Could it be another third degree encounter with Sephiroth scheduled for the fanboys?
