An itsy bitsy tiny quote that suggests...nothing

How do you like handheld consoles? If you do, then you might be in for a surprise. Dell's Global Gaming Chief Abizar Vakharia, at a European Innovation event in Marbella, Spain said something like: "...you know, a future gaming handheld is definitely one that's on the radar screen, but we have no plans to talk about anything today," according to PC Plus.

So does that mean that Dell is thinking of becoming the DS's and PSP's rival? As far as we know, nothing is certain as the statement doesn't shed much light but Dell sells and supports a wide range of personal computers, servers, data storage devices, network switches, PDAs, software, computer peripherals and pretty much everything else concerning electronics, so why wouldn't they?

The PSP has been around for a long time and if Dell were to be thinking to throw in something similar of their own, they would have their way cut out for them. The PSP is a marvelous piece of work, measuring 170 mm in length, 74 mm in width, and 23 mm in depth, and has a mass of 280 grams including the battery. The TFT LCD screen measures 110 mm in diagonal with a 16:9 ratio and a 480?272 pixel resolution capable of 16.77 million colors. Beat that Dell!

Even if what today is state of the art technology and tomorrow is obsolete, beating Sony's PSP or Nintendo's DS is going to be a difficult task as they will have to give birth to a machine that lives up to the times, but doesn't copy anything out there and maybe even brings something new to the world of games.

Anyway, until we can get our hands on something more solid, we're just going to have to take in consideration what we've heard so far and keep our ears to the ground.
