14 DAY TRIAL // Although Intel is not the first name that comes into the enthusiast's mind when thinking about computer motherboards, the company has a generous lineup of products available, the list following to get even bigger in the next few months according to a slide detailing Intel's H1 2011 desktop motherboard roadmap.
Coming our way via the SemiAccurate website, the list depicts no less than 10 motherboards, covering a wide range of market segments.
Starting things off are two new LGA 1366 X58 motherboards that are bound to arrive until the end of the year, the DX58SO2 and DX58OG being part of Intel's so called “Extreme” line of motherboards.
As a result, these will come with Bluetooth support as well with two USB 3.0 ports (judging by the pictures available), the DX58SO2 coming as the more feature rich offering since it supports eSATA, has an additional PCIe x16 slot as well as a second Ethernet port compared to its younger brother.
Furthermore, the DX58OG also carries a simplified VRM cooling solution, although the board layout seems to be pretty similar suggesting these are built on top of the same PCB.
Moving into H1 2011, we find Intel's first motherboards to come with Sandy Bridge support, the top of the line model being the DP67BG that will feature a pair of x16 PCI Express slots, USB 3.0, eSATA and a pair of Intel SATA 6Gbps ports.
Two regular PCI ports will also be available through a PCI Express to PCI bridge chip.
Next, we find the DP67BA and the micro ATX DP67DE motherboards, these being accompanied by the entry-level DH67CL board.
They are to be followed later in the first half of 2011 with the DH67GD and DH67BL motherboards that are accompanied by the mini-ITX DH67CF and DH61AG.
Although not too much information is known about these motherboards, the DH67CF will be one of the most feature rich mini-ITX boards available thanks to its DisplayPort, DVI, HDMI, USB 3.0, eSATA and full x16 PCI Express slot support.
No further information is available at this time, and knowing Intel I doubt they will make anything official until they release Sandy Bridge on January 5, 2011.
