Kalypso Media Group and Paradox Scandinavian Distribution have each issued reports, revealing that the latter has agreed to distribute the historical strategy game Imperium Romanum in the Nordic countries, in cooperation with Kalypso and Haemimont Games, also rolling out six new battle screenshots in the process.

While the hostile barbarians enter the combat, the player has to defend his goods and chattels and to show his tactical skills in order to defend against mighty attacks. Therefore, not only infantry, but also archers and horsemen (equites) are available. However, the barbarians are well equiped with siege machines and will not hesitate to attack you in the middle of the night - this is the scenario depicted in the the six battle screens below. Now here are some facts about the game itself:

Imperium Romanum is set in the time-honoured Roman Empire where players are treated to incredible graphical detail, as they construct fortifications, build towers, gates, bridges and so on. Players pay for their construction materials with new currency implemented by Kalypso into the game. The game's features speak for themselves:

- History mode with timeline, where missions are based on real events and locations - Interactive mission mode: the players activate the goals when they choose - Improved battle system where players commands their own armies - Player-constructible bridges, fortifications, walls, towers and gates - Introduction of currency, crime, historically accurate buildings, natural disasters, and siege machines - New interface design, and improved economy and overview dialogues

Paradox Scandinavian Distribution started its business in 2006, noticing a growing need from the market for flexible distributors who could take decisions quickly and move fast. The company has since distributed several popular games such as Warhammer: Mark of Chaos, Vanguard: Saga of Heroes, Anno 1701, TrackMania United and is preparing to work its magic with the upcoming 32nd America's Cup - The Game/Virtual Skipper 5 as well. Paradox Scandinavian Distribution also has a number of publishing partners, some of which are Nobilis, Koch Media and Focus Interactive.

Imperium Romanum is due for release in February, 2008.
