Mobile games developer and publisher, Ojom announced the launch of Oil Imperium, a mobile adaptation of the classic Commodore 64 game. A cross between Monopoly and simulation games, Oil Imperium gives players the chance to prospect for black gold and become an oil baron.

Oil Imperium allows gamers to become an oil magnate, controlling vast reserves of the world's oil in a simulation format that is set in the world of commerce and international business. Players get to trade on the financial markets, drill oil fields and sell crude oil as they build their global empire. Gamers that played the original version on the Commodore 64 will be familiar with the plot and the planning that is required to succeed in the oil business.

Players begin the game with a modest budget of around ?1250 million, and they have to build their empire from scratch, but in order to strike black gold and make their fortune they must spend that money wisely. The practical side of the game includes prospecting for sites to drill for oil, keeping a close eye on the competition and the fluctuating price of crude oil.

Marc Bube, Channel Manager of Ojom, said: "Tycoon style games appeal to the megalomaniac in all of us. You can play at being a businessman in the boardroom and take your chances drilling out at sea or in the desert. This compelling game will appeal to classic gamers who played the original version and mobile users that have a head for enterprise."

Oil Imperium marks a new development direction for Ojom. This is the publisher's first venture into the strategy and simulation genre. Some of the company's previously released titles include games based on movies, such as 'Land Of The Dead', 'The Birds', 'Desperado: Duel of Vengeance', and 'MAYA - Temple of Secrets' - a puzzle game.
