And they're old too. SIX years old to be precise

Microsoft's entering an agreement with Gyration to make a motion-sensing remote for their Media Center has given birth to an obvious rumor that the Xbox 360 is getting a motion sensitive controller. Leaving aside that the two companies are indeed working on such a peripheral, these aren't images of the actual thing, so don't be fooled!

Many would be tempted to believe the rumor, since everyone is embracing the motion sensing control scheme (Sony's SIXAXIS is a good example of that). Still, even with supposed actual images of the new peripheral being revealed, the rumor has been dismissed immediately.

First things first though:

Originally posted by dreamstation.cc: "Supposedly, Microsoft has contracted Gyration, the company responsible for the Wii Remote prototype, to create a motion-sensing peripheral for the Xbox 360. Gyration recently developed a motion-sensing remote for Microsoft's Media Center and it sounds like they are continuing there relationship with Microsoft by bringing a motion-sensing device to the Xbox 360."

Now, the image you see to the top left side of this article is indeed a picture of the original motion-sensing prototype that Gyration had designed for the Wii back in 2001. However, images of this concept controller are now circling the Internet as the supposed motion-sensitive peripheral for Xbox 360, which, as a matter of fact, Microsoft and Gyration are working on as we speak, but these pictures are in no way that peripheral.

Ice Ac up on xboxfamily.com writes: "Please do not be fooled by these images as they are not the new 'rumored' add-on. While we look forward to seeing the new peripheral, these images aren't it." So until either Microsoft or Gyration make an official announcement complete with images and features, remember that the image you're looking at now is not what they're working on as a new peripheral for the Xbox 360 console.
