The International Mobile Gaming Awards has just closed for entries. The next stage is that of judging the ideas that have been forwarded and this will take place in Marseille next week.

A total of 400 entries have been filed at this year's edition of the International Mobile Gaming Awards. The first step that organizers will do in the process of selecting the winners will be that of reducing the number of competitors down to 80. An international panel of judges, based in Japan, China, Korea, USA, France, UK, Germany and Italy will be the ones taking care that this happens under best conditions.

"This edition is showing a further growth in professionalism and quality worldwide and some astonishing innovations that we can't wait to disclose to a wider audience, after the judging sessions. We have seen new work of both the established studios as of small studios and individuals. Excellent work came in from all over the world in all categories: amazing 3D games, clever connected games, cross platform games, but also many Flash games looking a lot better than the ones we saw last year", said Maarten Noyons, founder and managing director of the IMGA.

The 80 pre-selected games will be presented in front of an international jury in Marseille during an entire day of judging. Only 25 of them will be allowed to go on in the next stage, five for each of the following categories:

Excellence in Gameplay Excellence in Connectivity Excellence in 3D Best IP-based game Best Casual Game

The IMGA is one of the most important mobile gaming competitions at a worldwide scale. Only this year, the 400 entries came from more than 30 countries. Almost half of them were from Europe, having the UK lead in the number of filed entries. The contest features the support of some important companies, such as Adobe, Movida, Nokia and co-sponsored by NVIDIA, Qualcomm, Belle-de-Mai Media Park, Marseille and AMD.
