Publisher Ubisoft and developer 1C Maddox Games have announced that the Cliffs of Dover expansion for the combat flight simulation title IL-2 Sturmovik will be released on March 25 of this year in the West, allowing enthusiasts to engage in the titanic aerial Battle of Britain.

The entirety of the game will take place during the year 1940, when after conquering France and the Low Countries, Hitler was preparing his assault on England by focusing the bulk of his air armies on destroying English aircraft and aerodromes.

The game will include new planes from the British, German and Italian forces, with all the positions in the aircraft available for gamers to try out.

Each aircraft component has been recreated using real life data and extensive research, with realistic damage one of the main targets of the development team.

There are also 13 planes that have also received detailed simulation, but they will only be flown by the Artificial Intelligence of IL-2.

The single player campaign of Cliffs of Dover will allow players to join the RAF in order to fight German aces and traitors from their own ranks.

The game will simulate London and southern England but also Belgium and the north of France, with the Channel playing a big part in the conflict as well.

The game engine has been reworked to support both DirectX 10 and 11 while delivering details like buildings and vehicles based on their real life counterparts.

The game also includes a dedicated training mode which will make it easier for those who just discovered the game to master the flying system and perform well in missions.

The game further adds a range of customizable multiplayer modes, with up to 128 pilots able to join into a massive aerial battle.

Ubisoft is also offering a Collector's Edition for Cliffs of Dover, which includes pilot instructions, a replica of the Pilot's Notes for the Spitfire I and a cloth escape map for pilots.

IL-2 Sturmovik: Cliffs of Dover will be offered both as a boxed package and as a digital download exclusively from the official online Ubisoft store.
