We’re at the IFA 2013 trade fair in Berlin, waiting for the first launch events to kick off so as to provide you with news on new products as they are unveiled.

Today, September 4, two of the most popular mobile phone makers out there have such events planned for the afternoon, namely Sony Mobile and Samsung, and we’ll be present at both of them.

Sony should make official a new member of the Xperia lineup today, namely the Xperia Z1, which has been spotted online for quite some time now under the codename of Honami.

Supposedly featuring the same screen size and design as the Xperia Z, the new smartphone should feature great camera capabilities, courtesy of a 20-megapixel photo snapper on its back.

Furthermore, it is also expected to land on the market with a Snapdragon 800 processor packed inside, which should enable it to deliver better performance capabilities than its predecessor.

All of the smartphone’s specs and features should go official in a few hours, so stay tuned to learn more on them and have a look at hands-on photos with the smartphone itself.

Sony’s launch event will kick off at 16:00 local hour, which would be 14:00 UTC / 7:00 PDT / 10:00 EDT.

Samsung’s event, on the other hand, should start at 19:00 local time, which would translate into 17:00 UTC / 10:00 PDT / 13:00 EDT.

The South Korean mobile phone maker should announce the next member of the Galaxy Note series of smartphones today, namely the Galaxy Note III, which is expected to be larger and more powerful than its predecessors.

The handset is said to sport a 5.68-inch full HD screen, a Snapdragon 800 processor (though an Exynos-based version will also be launched), and a 13-megapixel photo snapper on the back with 4K video recording capabilities, the same as Acer Liquid S2.

We’ll be present at the unveiling today, so stay tuned for updates on what Samsung will have to announce on this, as well as for photos with the smartphone itself.
