One hand and one car GPS system exhibit their capabilities

The IFA 2011 trade show is proving to be quite the trove of information on both new and not so new products, all from a variety of areas, even global positioning systems, as Garmin made it obvious.

If users were in any way concerned that all the economic troubles and natural disasters would leave the IT market starved for new devices, they needn't have worried.

Just the variety of electronics of all sorts put on display at this year's IFA trade show is more than enough proof of that.

We even have two of our colleagues over at the site of the event, in Berlin, Germany, taking shots and videos of all sorts of items.

Our list of IFA 2011 exhibitions can be seen here, some highlights being the 8K4K Sharp LCD, the disappearance of Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.7, following Apple's court victory, and Toshiba's large, Glasses-Free 3D TV.

There are even less than ordinary things that one will find at the site, some that people may say are just as often employed by the average traveler, if not more.

One pair of less than common products is represented by two GPS systems developed by Garmin and dubbed eTrex 30 and nuvi 3490, respectively.

The former is a hand GPS system, meaning that hikers, bikers and the like will find the greatest use for it.

It has 1.7 GB of built-in memory, a microSD slot, a TFT transflective display and a resolution of 176 x 220 pixels, plus a pair of AA batteries that last for up to 25 hours.

Meanwhile, the nuvi 3490 is a car system with an 800 x 480 pixels screen, 3D view for terrain, buildings and landmarks and a rechargeable battery (lasts for 4 hours).

Check out the pictures below for an idea of how either of the two might fit in with one's existing equipment.

Note: Fellow editors Cosmin Vasile and Sorin Nita are on the floor at the 2011 IFA Show and are keeping us posted with pictures and live reports on the latest product previews and launches.
