ZL2 3D panels are led-backlit beasts of to-grade performance and image quality

Those who are aware of Toshiba's recent releases may have heard about a certain set of 3D TVs that the company showed off at IFA, one of which we managed to score a few photos of.

The IFA 2011 trade Show in Berlin, Germany, was, and still is, packed full of many devices of all sorts, touching upon even distant industry segments, like that of cooking implements.

Toshiba is just one of the companies attending the event, though its product line definitely appears to be more extensive than that of many others.

Among other things, the company introduced the Portege Z830 ultrabook, the AT200 tablet and even an all-in-one PC (Qosmio DX730 AiO).

Another thing at its booth, and which we hadn't yet managed to get a good look at, was the ZL2 line of 3D TVs.

This situation has now been remedied, as our two fellow editors present at the site did, in fact, snap some pictures of one of the beasts.

For those that want a reminder as to just what the ZL2 line stands out for, it is, quite simply, a series of glasses-free 3D TVs.

To elaborate, instead of relying on some sort of passively polarized or active shutter glasses, they can create the 3D effect unassisted.

The means used to enable this involves tiny lenticular lenslets that, directed by a face tracking technology, can send the two sets of images directly to users' eyes.

Toshiba went one step further and even gave the 55-inch and 60-inch panels a native resolution far beyond that of most displays consumers will ever see inside a home.

Specifically, the LED-backlit products have a resolution of 3,840 x 2,180 (QuadHD resolution, as it is otherwise advertised).

Indeed, only the richest of prospective customers will actually have the resources needed for the purchase of one of these things, what with the starting price of 7,999 Euro ($11,500).

Note: Fellow editors Cosmin Vasile and Sorin Nita are on the floor at the 2011 IFA Show and are keeping us posted with pictures and live reports on the latest product previews and launches.
