Microsoft's Internet Explorer Mobile 6 has been recently spotted on Palm's Treo Pro running under Windows Mobile 6.1, yet the impression that it made was not as great as anticipated. It seems that the application actually needs a few more resources than a WinMo 6.1 handset was able to offer, yet it is expected to perform better on future devices.

The Redmond company is set to release in the second half of the ongoing year a new version of its mobile platform, namely Windows Mobile 6.5, which should be included with devices that will have plenty of resources to offer, so that Internet Explorer Mobile 6 would be able to perform as expected. And we already know that the app comes with a better interface, as well as with some other new features that will take the user experience to a new level.

The Internet Explorer Mobile 6 that will come with WinMo 6.5 is said to be some sort of a hybrid app, and not a straight mobile implementation of IE6, as one would expect. According to the news, it should come around with some of the advanced features Internet Explorer 8 for desktop computers includes.

Some of these new features include revamped navigation controls, along with touch-optimized browsing and full-HTML rendering. Users will also be able to enjoy support for Flash, as well as the javascript engine available with Internet Explorer 8, meant to enhance its compatibility and overall performance. Another nice feature that should be present with the browser is the support for PNG alpha channel, namely transparent graphical elements.

As many of you might already know, Internet Explorer is the web browser that has been reported to have the highest number of incompatibilities with web pages, and it is rather refreshing to hear that Microsoft plans to fix this problem for its mobile phone users. All we can do now is wait for Windows Mobile 6.5 to come around to see how well the new browser will actually perform.
