After a successful crowdfunding campaign on Indeigogo that raised a little over $130,000, the team at IC12 has recently unveiled a new look for their revolutionary LED Light Cube flash.

The company announced on its blog that the LED Light Cube will feature a full aluminum chassis designed to offer improved heat dispersion as well as giving the product a new look and feel.

At the same time, the Cube comes with removable silicon rubber O-rings around the edges that help with heat transfer between the surfaces when using it in high power video mode.

The casing features a black finish and holds the revolutionary lensing designed to shape light from an LED cluster, delivering a maximum throw of light from both the beam and the flux produced by the LED.

One of the greatest features of the LED Light Cube is its lack of a recycle time between flashes, which means that it will be able to be triggered as fast as your camera can shoot. If future cameras will be capable of 50 frames per second burst speeds, the flash will easily keep up.

At the same time, the LED Light Cube comes with a variable flash duration that can “freeze time” as fast as 1/8000 of a second. At the other end of the scale, the Cube can slow down to 30 seconds giving you the possibility to create amazing light painting photos with complete control over your environment.

The LED Light Cube can fire off over 1000 flashes at its highest power setting before the battery runs off thanks to the latest lithium ion polymer battery technology. Even more, the Cube can also be used as a video light thanks to its LED model that doesn't pose the same restrictions as the usual filament flash units.

The LED Light Cube will be available for purchase at a price of $695 / €506 for a single Cube and $2,400 / €1,746 for a four-unit Cube kit. Shipping of the first LED Light Cubes will start in January 2014.
