At 43, model Cindy Crawford still has the body to walk the catwalk, but that’s not to say she isn’t often targeted by the tabloid media for how she looks. Not that she cares that much, as she puts it herself in a new interview with Redbook’s September issue: she has cellulite and she’s not afraid to admit it, so the media might as well stop pressuring her right now.

This is not the first time that Crawford speaks out against the ongoing trend in the tabloid media of snapping pictures of celebrities on vacations and then running them with huge, shocking captions that make it sound like having cellulite on the back of the legs is the biggest crime they could ever possibly commit. At 43, the model has accepted that she no longer has the body she had when she was in her early 20s, so the media might as well start seeing it that way too – and stop judging her for being less perfect.

“I have cellulite. I admit it. But sometimes I just say, ‘[To hell with] it.’” Crawford reveals for the aforementioned magazine. She won’t let criticism deter her from wearing a swimsuit when she’s on vacation because, frankly, she shares, if other people have an issue with that, it’s not her problem to deal with. As far as she’s concerned, she has learned to love her body as it is, with the good and the bad together, so she’s not about to give in to this kind of image bullying and cover herself up.

“I think I look good for my age. I am not 25; I am 43. That feels like a big pressure, especially when the National Enquirer is dying to get a picture. I am so aware that I don’t want to change the way I live because of that kind of attention. So you say, […] ‘I am not putting on a cover-up.’ You just brace yourself for a bad picture.” the model further explains.

Back in March, Cindy Crawford was featured in an Allure photospred for the anti-aging issue of the mag. In some of the shots, she was wearing a swimsuit, while in others, there was little else than some well-placed shaving cream to cover her up. Shortly after the spread came out, Crawford was talking to the media and drawing attention to the fact that, while glamorous, the photos did not really paint a loyal picture of reality, warning fans they shouldn’t forget she was 43 and a mother of two. Still, even then, she stressed that she was happy with the way her body looked.
