Says she’s in pretty good shape at 43

Just yesterday, the anti-aging issue of Allure magazine was out, and it caused quite a stir when it did. Not only does this special edition cater for women who are past their prime, but it also comes with a sizzling photo spread with former model Cindy Crawford who, although 43, was bold enough to pose for the camera in nothing but shaving cream. It’s because she looks “pretty good for [her] age,” as she tells the mag.

As noted yesterday, the photo spread also includes a more artistic approach to the concept of beauty, with shots that show the former model ripping a loaf of bread or hanging by her hair from a string. Another shot portrays Crawford striking what has been labeled a specific modeling pose while a robot behind her brushes her teeth. And there’s also, of course, the photo that shows her covered in shaving cream, of which Crawford tells she’s most proud.

At 43 and after giving birth to two children, when Cindy Crawford says she “looks pretty good” she’s actually making the understatement of the year, it has been pinpointed, although her modesty is duly appreciated. “I don’t look the way I did when I was 23. So, if Star magazine or whatever wants to print a picture of me on the beach from the back, at the worst possible angle, and say that I have cellulite, I’m like, ‘Guess what? I do, and I never said I didn’t’.” Crawford also tells the mag with almost disarming honesty.

The former model’s secret to this wonderful attitude is, as she herself stresses, that she has accepted her body will change in time. There is growing old gracefully, of course, but it’s still growing old at the end of the day, Cindy adds. So, along the years, she has learned to accept that changes – for the better or worse, but mostly the latter – will take place as regards her body, which is why she is now most happy about the way she looks.

“Basically, I take care of myself, but I don’t want to be obsessive.” Cindy further explains. “And I don’t want to not like who I am today. I’m all for fighting the good fight, but I don’t care how much you work out or how much cream you put on – things change.” she concludes by saying.
