Not long ago, as her movies were either thrashed by critics or sent straight to DVD because of poor reception at pre-screenings, actress Lindsay Lohan was saying it was fame that had literally killed her budding career. In the meantime, though, the star has had a change of heart, telling Access Hollywood just recently that fame and attention from the paparazzi was what she dreamed of achieving when she was still a teen.

Speaking on the media frenzy she generates every time she steps out in public and how her personal life plays mostly in the tabloids (and on Twitter, one might as well add), Lindsay says she doesn’t really resent it. When she was growing up, she would see Britney Spears in the media all the time and she literally dreamed of one day becoming just like that, the actress says now. She also knew from the start that, once in the big game, media attention would come automatically.

“Everyone goes through tough times and the second that I decided I wanted to be in front of the camera … I think I’ve always kind of aspired to be like Britney Spears in the tabloids when I was in middle school. It’s kind of something you sign up for in the beginning and if you really want it, you know that comes with it.” Lindsay says for Access Hollywood.

Of course, that’s not to say she appreciates or finds any joy in all that comes with this kind of intrusive attention since she too has bad days when she would like to be left alone, the star adds. However, she’s come to learn to let go, not to pay attention to every trifle that is being put out there about her and, in a way, detach herself from the madness. This doesn’t change the fact that, overall, the relishes the spotlight.

“There are times when it does affect me.” Lindsay says. “When I’m having a bad day or dealing with something personal that is no one else’s business but they’re going to spin it anyway. If I make the wrong face and I’m having a really great day, they’re going to say something negative anyway. I know that I’m a target and I know that I’ve given people a lot of reason to kind of run with things that have been said. I no longer intend on doing that, but I’m not perfect.” the star adds.
