14 DAY TRIAL // Valeria Lukyanova, the Ukrainian model known as the Human Barbie, is speaking out after a new batch of portraits she posted to her Facebook went viral. They also came with an onslaught of fresh criticism on her looks and how she’s sending the wrong message to impressionable girls and young women from all over the world.
Haters need to take a chill pill, Valeria says in a post shared on Facebook some hours ago. She seems disappointed in how much negativity there is in the world, when all she’s trying to do is be her best self possible.
She’s not “abnormal,” she’s fit and strong
You can see some of the photos that got her under attack again in the gallery below: Valeria has always been very slender, but in them, she appears more so than before. She is also more disproportionate, in a very Barbie-esque way, with her tiny waist being thinner, longer and more muscular than in previous photos.
For the record, Valeria maintains that she didn’t have plastic surgery (except for the breast implants) to look this way, and that she never alters her photos in any way before posting them.
True to her initial statement, she takes issue when people call her a plastic surgery freak or other similar names. In this new post, she says that people should support her for deciding to be more athletic instead of bringing her down.
“It is a pity that most people choose the path of degradation,” she writes in Russian. “If they see a person who has succeeded with something better than they are, they are ready to literally tear them apart. I see it on the Internet a lot in particular.”
Most shockingly, she didn’t expect criticism from “girls and boys from sporting groups,” because she expected them to understand why she was doing it. “So much negativity,” a disappointed Valeria writes.
Queen of the Amazon wannabe
Valeria explains that she had been active before, but last year’s attack, when 2 men jumped her outside her apartment in Odessa and beat her to a pulp without as much as saying a word, prompted her to become stronger.
She hopes never to have to go through the horrific experience again, but should the worst come to happen again, she believes she’s ready. In her current condition, she could probably resist an attacker, she writes.
Her body is the result of two years’ worth of training at the gym, but what got her the definition on her abs and arms is the last few months’ workouts, which have been considerably more frequent and intense.
Her inspiration, Valeria writes, is the Queen of the Amazon. And she is proud of what she’s achieved.
