Hugh Hefner finally opens up about being left by Crystal Harris at the altar

Just days before she was supposed to marry the most eligible bachelor (in certain circles), Hugh Hefner, Crystal Harris left him. In a brand new interview with Piers Morgan on CNN, the publisher mogul reveals some details about what happened when his fiancée left him nearly at the altar.

Hearing that the 85-year-old Playboy mogul was about to married to a woman many, many years his junior came as a shock, especially since he’d already said several times that he would never walk down the aisle again, since single life suited him just fine.

To respond to rumors that either this was just a PR stunt or she was a shameless gold-digger, both said, time and time again, that they were in love and would go ahead with the marriage, if only to silence critics.

As it turns out, it never happened – and the Hef is still blindsided about Crystal’s decision to call everything off on such short notice.

First of all, while she did express doubts as to whether they should marry, she chose not to tell Hefner anything about her plans, and snuck out of the house as he was watching a movie.

She was gone and was untraceable for a few days, during which time Hefner assumed she was with her mother in San Diego, he told Morgan, as the video below will confirm.

However, there’s a chance she was with another man; actually, her ex-fiancé is convinced that she was someplace else, but he refuses to voice his doubts in more specific terms.

“I think there is at least one other guy in the picture. I think there’s something more we don’t know. And I think that maybe as she got – I think that the career was more important to her than she let on,” he says.

While heartbroken and confused, Hefner was very generous to the woman who caused said heartbreak and confusion, leaving her a Bentley, the diamond engagement ring and some money.

“Well, she asked for a Bentley right before we split. So she got the car. She got the ring. She didn’t have to get it. You know…,” Hef tells Morgan.

“The ring was I would say around $60,000, $70,000. But to her credit, we had a dog. Have a dog. Charlie. And I love the dog. She brought it back. And felt that I missed it more than she did,” he adds.

He also gave her money, but not a lot. “As I say, she would have gotten a good deal more if she’d gotten married,” Hefner adds with a smile.

While all this is going on, E! Online also has a first look at what should have been Hugh Hefner and Crystal Harris’ wedding special, which is now being repackaged as “Hef’s Runaway Bride.” Check it out below.
