The game can corrupt your save files if you don't follow a certain chain of events

The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword, one of the last great Nintendo Wii titles, has a game breaking glitch that doesn’t let players progress through the story, according to Nintendo, which has now offered a certain workaround to avoid this problem until a fix is released for the game.

Skyward Sword was eagerly expected by millions of Nintendo fans from all over the world, largely because it promised to deliver the definitive Zelda motion control experience and once again showcase why the franchise is so popular.

While it’s more than lived up to its promise, fans have found a nasty, game-breaking bug that can be triggered during the Song of the Hero quest. If the player follows a certain chain of events, they won’t be able to progress further through the story unless they revert to an older save game file.

Nintendo is aware of this issue and, until it can get a patch out, it has offered a workaround to those who are affected by this serious Skyward Sword issue.

Here’s the chain of events in the Song of the Hero quest that must be avoided in order to prevent the glitch from appearing.

1. At the beginning of the quest, go to Lanayru Desert to retrieve the song of the Thunder Dragon.

2. In the Lanayru Mine, speak with Golo the Goron.

3. Complete the Thunder Dragon's event, and receive his song.

4. Before heading to the forest or volcano regions, speak with Golo in the mine again.

5. At this point, the forest and volcano events will no longer occur, making it impossible to continue. Nintendo has offered a solution, via Zelda Informer, which you can check out below

“This issue WILL NOT OCCUR if the Fire and Water Dragon songs have already been collected before collecting the Thunder Dragon's song. Talking to Golo in the Lanayru Caves will also NOT trigger this issue.”

“If the game has been saved after completing the sequence of events, it will no longer be possible to proceed through the game on that save file. The only options at that point are to either start the game over or to use an earlier save file to continue.”
