If you're into freebies and maybe you got a little tired of all those low quality freeware games, you should try out this title: Harpooned. Its full name is "Harpooned: Japanese Cetacean Research Simulator" but don't expect a boring simulation game or something like that - here, it's all about the blood and whale meat you can get. And the fun. Free fun.

The player takes the role of a Japanese scientist performing research on whales around Antarctica. How you do this "research" is the fun and sarcastic part of the game: you have to harpoon the whales, drag them on board and... cut them into hamburger meat. Yup! That's your "research", and you'll do it while playing a classic vertically scrolling shooter game that is quite a feast for the hungry eye.

The player gets crazy bonuses, like the ones received after chain killing members of the same species, so expect to be encouraged to butcher young whales and their mothers. So this is definitely not a game for the hardcore animal lovers. At least for those who don't have a decent sense of humor or who can't understand the sarcasm of some games. For example, you will get messages like "Scientific!" or "Mega scientific!" after shooting whales. If you collect the huge pieces of bloody meat left behind by the whales you just shot, you will be awarded "research points", always calculated in hamburgers and tins of cat food. And that's one of the reasons Harpooned might get some people crazy in love with it... because we all love some "bloody abnormal" stuff from time to time.

This game is free to download, free to play, it comes packed in a 10 megs file so you won't waste too much time downloading it, and it is, of course, available for download from the official Harpooned website. Or, you can download it HERE. Harpooned is the creation of Conor O'Kane.
