The upcoming THQ published and Kaos developed shooter Homefront tells a story which could resonate deeply with American gamers, who will need to fight for freedom as their country is being invaded and overrun by North Korean forces, but the two companies are aiming to make the experience a global one, focusing on shared values.

Speaking to CVG as part of a bigger interview, Jeremy Greiner, who is the community leader at Kaos Studios, has said, “This isn’t an American flag waver. It’s really important to us that people all over the world can identify with the themes of occupation.”

He added, “We’re not interested in triggering American patriotism. Hopefully those themes will be universal. So absolutely, we could do a Homefront London. We’ve even joked on our Twitter that we could do a Homefront Reykjavik. We can do anything.”

It's not clear whether the comments from Greiner actually mean that the studio is actively working on a version of Homefront set in London or whether it's only a possibility that could be realized later through downloadable content.

Danny Bilson, the leader of THQ, has already confirmed that just as Homefront is being prepared for its official launch, teams are working on the second video game in the series, saying that it will have a bigger scope and that it “takes place on the other side of the Mississippi — nobody knows what’s going on over there because the North Koreans have irradiated the Mississippi.”

Information on Homefront suggests that the game will be less scripted than rivals like the Call of Duty series, allowing gamers more freedom in how they tackle tactical challenges.

Homefront is set to be released on March 8 in the United States and three days later in Europe, with the Xbox 360 from Microsoft, the PlayStation 3 from Sony and the PC as the chosen platforms.
