Family members, friends and Hollywood stars say goodbye to actor David Carradine

Ten days since he was found dead in his hotel suite in Bangkok after apparently chocking by accident, the body of actor David Carradine was laid to rest following a funeral service held at Hall of Liberty at Forest Lawn Hollywood Hills, The Los Angeles Times informs. Over 400 guests, including family members and close friends and actors with whom Carradine worked, came to pay their final respect to the late star.

The ceremony was invitation-only and several bodyguards watched the gates to make sure no one without an invite came through them. Celebrities from all corners of the world, with whom Carradine worked at some point or another or who just wanted to say goodbye, came, most of them bearing flowers. Carradine’s brother, Keith, stepped outside the hall for a couple of minutes to greet friends, and then disappeared inside and did not emerge until the end. The entire ceremony lasted about two hours.

“The service was held indoors at the Hall of Liberty at Forest Lawn Hollywood Hills, the cemetery adjacent to Griffith Park. The service was invitation only, and security guards stood outside the hall. The funeral, attended by more than 400 people, lasted for more than two hours. Among the guests were numerous actors, including Michael Madsen, Jane Seymour, Tom Selleck, Frances Fisher, Daryl Hannah, Lucy Liu, Ali Larter, Edward James Olmos, Rob Schneider and James Cromwell. Madsen and Liu both starred alongside Carradine in the ‘Kill Bill’ movies. Carradine’s family avoided the small group of reporters that gathered outside. His burial was private.” The LA Times reports.

As fans must know, Carradine’s body was found dead after hanging for about 12 hours by the neck from a rope in the closet. Initially believed to have been a suicide, the actor’s death caused serious waves in the media, as speculation also began to build that he may have accidentally asphyxiated during an intimate moment. The first autopsy in the case ruled out the suicide theory, with a second examination believed to shed more light on what might have caused the actor to hang himself.

As we reported a while back, Carradine’s death also made the headlines because of two major leaks in the case, one where a Thai tabloid ran a photo of the actor’s body as he was found when the police arrived on the scene, and the other when autopsy photos leaked from someone on the coroner staff – these have yet to surface in the media.
