Hilary Duff received $100,000 compensation for being dropped from “Bonnie and Clyde,” says report

She may have lost the role that could have made her a huge name in Hollywood but at least she didn’t leave empty-handed. A new report suggests Hilary Duff was paid $100,000 not to appear in the “Bonnie and Clyde” remake.

Duff had been attached to the project for a couple of years when word got out that she’d been dropped from it for reasons that hadn’t been made clear to the public.

Since this got out just days after she’d announced her pregnancy, many assumed the two were connected – and said that she’d been fired from the film because she was with child and was holding up production.

While this is yet to be verified, a new report from TMZ claims that at least Duff gets to laugh all the way to the bank even if she lost the role.

In other words, she still got paid, despite being fired.

“A preggo Hilary Duff scored a GIANT golden parachute after getting dumped from the new ‘Bonnie and Clyde’ movie – a severance deal worth $100,000... all for doing nothing,” TMZ reports.

“Sources close to production tell TMZ, it’s all in Hilary’s play-or-pay contract – if for some reason, production decides to terminate the actress’ employment... they’ll cough up the six-figure sum to compensate her,” the same report notes.

Since producers decided they couldn’t wait until 2012 to shoot the film with Duff, when she would have given birth and bounced back into shape, she had to be let go – but she still got paid.

As we also informed you a few days ago, the film is now without a leading man as well, after Kevin Zegers dropped out because of scheduling issues.

TMZ claims to have it on good authority that Amanda Seyfried has been approached for the role of Bonnie, but she turned down the offer. No word yet on who might replace Zegers.
