Hideo Kojima said in many recent encounters with the press that he would be handing over the Metal Gear series to new developers and that he would be focusing on other projects. This is not entirely true, because it has been confirmed by Konami USA that Kojima will still be working on the Metal Gear Solid franchise.

This was the only information that Shacknews could get out of Konami USA, when the online magazine asked about Kojima’s next projects. During an E3 roundtable discussion, Shigenobu Matsuyama, the producer of Metal Gear Solid: Rising, revealed that Rising would become its own franchise and that Kojima would work on Metal Gear Solid titles, while Matsuyama's team would work on Raiden games.

Matsuyama declared to the press through a translator that “I've been asked a lot, 'Is this going to be a side-story or spin-off to the MGS series?', but what I'm positioning is that there will be a Hideo Kojima game that is MGS, but what we are planning as Kojima Productions is have this Raiden Rising as almost as a standard so that there's an MGS and the Rising going back-and-forth in the future.”

Recent rumors surfaced stating that a huge Kojima announcement would be made at Tokyo Game Show 2010. He is currently executive producer for two titles, Metal Gear Solid: Rising and Castlevania: Lords of Shadow. He is also developing the Nintendo 3DS remake of Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater, set to be shown off at TGS 2010. Kojima said that it was not Zone of the Ender 3 and that this new project would break current taboos in the industry. The last entry in the Metal Gear Solid series was Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker for the PlayStation Portable.
