Techland has just released a bunch of new details and screenshots for Hellraid, one of its upcoming projects, confirming just how the first-person co-op slasher will work and the special Game Master system that aims at keeping the experience fresh.

Hellraid was presented earlier this month by Techland, which confirmed that the title will deliver a novel first-person slasher experience that's geared towards cooperative play.

Now, the studio has just posted a bunch of fresh details about the title and its gameplay, confirming that, while Hellraid is best when played cooperatively, people can still go through it alone.

"Hellraid can be experienced both in single-player and in co-operation. While playing solo you explore the world, complete quests, gather loot and develop your character.

"In co-operation tension rises when you struggle to achieve mission goals while competing with your friends for points granted for each kill, team-plays and automatically generated challenges throughout the game," the studio said in a statement.

There will be four different character classes in Hellraid, in the form of the Warrior, Mage, Paladin, and Rogue, each with their own skill tree, not to mention various customization options.

What really makes Hellraid stand out from other games, according to Techland, is the Game Master system that's inspired from traditional pen-and-paper RPGs that keeps the experience fresh.

"In co-operation mode, Game Master carefully selects competitive challenges for players and awards the best ones at the end of each level. It changes where and how you and your friends complete quests, placement, numbers and types of enemies you encounter as well as deploying treasure chests and loot."

Game Master will also be present in the solo mode but won't give any competitive challenges.

The new system, thanks to the many levels included by Techland in Hellraid, will offer players "hundreds of hours of pure fun."

Hellraid will be released for PC, PS3, and Xbox 360 later this year.
