The day that Hello Kitty fans have been waiting for is finally upon us. The world's favorite mouth less kitten is starring in a Nintendo DS game which has shipped to North American stores, the first step towards domination of the videogaming market. The game is created Empire Interactive and is published by Atari. You should be able to buy the game starting today for 29.99 dollars.

The game puts you in the role of Hello Kitty as she arrives in the Big City where she must make a life and a name for herself. The aim of the icon is to have her own penthouse apartment but the road to getting it is long and twisted. Luckily, Hello Kitty can count on the help of various other residents of Sanrio Town, like Keroppi, Badtz-Maru, Tuxedosam or My Melody. Other well known characters from the Hello Kitty universe will also have smaller roles to play in the game.

The player will be able to try his hand at mini games like Restaurant Rush, Arcade Hero, and Destination: Dance. Winning will get you friendship points that can be spent on new outfits for Hello Kitty and fresh themes for her apartment. The Nintendo DS touchscreen will be used in most of the games.

Karim Farghaly, who is the vice president of sales at Empire Interactive, detailed the challenges involved in working with such a high profile intellectual property, by saying that “When you work with a renowned global icon like Hello Kitty there must be a balance between meeting the expectations of the loyal fanbase while opening the experience up to newcomers to the franchise. By working closely with Sanrio and allowing our developer to add the perfect touch to the game, we are confident that Hello Kitty: Big City Dreams will be the premier, must-have title for girls, Hello Kitty fans, and DS adventure gamers this holiday season”.
