14 DAY TRIAL // Over the weekend, Heidi Montag’s publicist confirmed for several media outlets that “The Hills” star had split from her husband and former co-star Spencer Pratt. The decision was hers and would be followed by her moving out of the marital home, to live with a female friend. No legal measures have yet been taken, though, to ensure this separation paves the way for divorce, Us Magazine has learned.
The mag spoke to one of Pratt’s closest friends and he can confirm that, indeed, while the separation is the real deal (that is to say, it’s not just another publicity stunt from the two, as many a media outlet suspected), neither Spencer nor Heidi has any plans to get a divorce. Moreover, says the tipster, both hoped the separation would not get out in the press, with Heidi being reportedly flabbergasted when TMZ revealed she was moving out of the house.
“Heidi is going through a difficult time and hopes people respect her privacy,” Montag’s rep says for Us. “An insider insists that the couple, who wed in April of last year, parted ways early last week, with Heidi initiating the break. Adds the pal: ‘there are no plans for divorce... they are going through some issues. It’s a hiccup.’ The source claims that both Heidi, 23, and Spencer, 26, were blindsided by TMZ’s Friday report, which divulged that Heidi was moving out. ‘She was bummed that it came out,’ the pal says. ‘She wanted things to be more settled first’,” the mag further writes.
“Why the break? ‘Heidi loves Spencer but she had lost contact with her friends and family,’ the friend explains. ‘She started to realize what she was missing.’ Multiple sources have told Us Weekly that hot-tempered Spencer has brainwashed and isolated his wife, who underwent an astonishing ten plastic surgery procedures earlier this year,” Us goes on to say, summing up rumors that have been in circulation for the past couple of months or so.
In a very unlike them move, neither Heidi nor Spencer has commented in any way on the separation. The only thing to come from them is a tweet from Montag, in which she says with several exclamation marks that this will be the best summer of her life. Whether she was talking about the split or the rumored upcoming reality show is yet to be determined, so do keep an eye on this space for more on this.
