14 DAY TRIAL // Over the weekend, the most mediated couple from TV, Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt, announced, via Montag’s rep, they’d separated. Neither of the two stars commented on the change in their marital status, which is more than odd, given that they live and breathe for media coverage. US Magazine says the real reason behind the separation may be the launch of Heidi’s new show – and it’s not the only to think this would explain the entire situation.
As it’s well known by now, both Heidi and Spencer spend most of their personal life in the media, often even calling the paparazzi themselves to ensure they grab headlines, at least according to some reports. Following Montag’s surgical makeover, which got more than a fair share of coverage, interest in the couple has been dwindling, which could mean that Heidi felt there wasn’t enough for her to launch a new reality show, now that “The Hills” is coming to an end.
So she decided she and Spencer should go on a break, perhaps prompted too by his rather odd behavior in recent months. All the signs are there, for all that matters. “As some decry the news as another publicity stunt, 23-year-old Montag emerged on Twitter late Friday with a cheerful announcement: ‘This is going to be the best summer of my life!!!!’ And an old pal – and one-time Hills costar – claims Heidi’s summer plans are already in place. Jennifer Bunney, who appeared in earlier seasons of The Hills, told Radar Online, ‘Heidi and I are moving into a Malibu beach house this summer.’ The cameras, naturally, will be rolling: Bunney says she and Montag will be filming a new reality show,” US writes.
As for what the new reality show might be about, Bunney says it will focus on Heidi’s life post-separation. “We’re really excited to do girly things and show people who we really are and that we’re really fun, sweet and loyal girls. But, she is moving in with me. It’s just her being able to have some freedom from marriage and for us to work on our friendship and focus on things we want to focus on. The show is going to focus on our friendship, getting through things with each other like marriage stuff and boyfriend stuff,” the friend explains.
Also per Bunney, Montag and Pratt are separated but not “legally,” which would confirm earlier reports that they’re not even thinking of getting a divorce.
