That's... shocking. What's next, no vehicles?

Apparently, Halo 3 will not be featuring the Co-Op mode you all dreamed about. Bungie has somewhat hit a wall in developing this game mode, and it's basically because of the vast maps that the game features and of course, the number of players that can join in on the fight. However, a two player Co-Op mode wouldn't be too much to ask for now would it?

I picked up on this piece of news thanks to two well known gaming sites. According to MaxConsole...: "Despite a two player co-op mode having been confirmed for Halo 3, it unfortunately looks as if the respective game mode will only be available as a LAN or split screen option as Bungie are struggling to get the co-op mode running on-line. Speaking to EG, Bungie's Frank O'Conner stated "I think the biggest problem for us for online co-op is that we have a situation where you can be in a Warthog with five troops, almost a mile away from the other player. That's a significant challenge." Although it may be possible that an online co-op mode could come by way of a new piece of downloadable content in the future."

So basically, it's hard, but not impossible. Honestly, it's Halo 3 for crying out loud, the FPS of the century...

As far as how Joystiq.com quotes the developer...: "We're not dumb. We know that people want it. [...] If we can make it happen in a way that works well, we will."

Sure, maybe in the form of "downloadable content in the future," via XBLA. Yes, you're disappointed and I know exactly why. Everyone was absolutely positive that the game would at least feature a four-player Co-Op mode, but now, the game mode itself is being pulled. What can I say, let's just hope they leave everything else in place.
