After months of waiting, Halo 3 fans are forced to wait some more

Those who knew that by downloading Crackdown they'd be able to download and play the Beta of Halo 3 are literally scratching their eyeballs as we speak. They can't download the Beta, thus can't play the frikkin' Beta. Everyone else accessing it differently has succeeded in doing so, but not Crackdown purchasers.

Bungie's Frank O'Connor is on top of the issue saying: "We have alerted the appropriate Live authorities and they are taking care of the problem as we speak. More news as it comes in," as Joystiq reports. Halo 3 Beta was supposed to be available for everyone, including those who purchased Crackdown, at 8 a.m today, eastern time. But as it is well past 10 a.m. already, still no sign of Beta availability for Crackdown buyers.

It must be so frustrating to go through months and months of waiting to finally get a hands-on experience with the most anticipated console FPS ever and when it's finally announced as available, not to be able to download the game.

Surely this nut will be cracked during the course of this day, but for the most anticipated of Bungie's FPS series and the last of the trilogy, they surely made a mess of it. Of course, it is most likely a problem with Live or Crackdown and not the Beta itself, but still it makes you ask yourself: Didn't they "beta" the whole process before releasing it through Crackdown? Let's hope they fix it by the end of the day. Let us know if you're in.
