There are some zombies, too

We initially missed this, but City of Heroes/City of Villains is now running a Halloween event that is due to continue until November 2. The developers are saying that the extended period for the event is a special thank-you move addressed to all those who have been playing the MMO and supporting it.

Because it is Halloween, the game is getting zombies, adding them to the big gallery of antagonists that superheroes can fight. Because zombies rise out of the ground and attack indiscriminately, they are hard to spot and difficult to combat. Still, taking them on brings players a bunch of rewards. There are Classical Costumes, which can be obtained and worn, while Badges will be awarded in the game to those who have the most costumes to show at the end of the event.

The Halloween special also includes the return of Ravenwing Cabal's Annah, which can be found in Croatoa to explain more about some of the activities, while Granny Beldam will be found in Nerva Archipelago.

City of Heroes is also expected to get a significant update in the near future. It is titled Issue 13: Power and Responsibility, and will bring forth some interesting changes. Each character will now get a full-fledged day job to conceal his superhero identity, depending on where you log out from the game. An option to create two different builds and load outs of the same character will also be available, so that you are able to jump into any situation. There are also two new powersets and a new rewards system that will encourage more team play.

NCsoft is also talking about Issue 14, titled Architect, and set to arrive early in 2009. It will allow players to design their own adventures, complete with supervillains, which can then be shared with friends.
