Manhunt 2 has had a very big share of controversy around it, and, being named one of the most violent games ever produced, it met disapproval from every rating board. However, it eventually went on sale in the US after gaining a Mature rating (it actually did fairly well in terms of sales) and – what do you know? – nobody claimed to have committed violent acts because of it.

But if in the US the developer, Rockstar, only cut a few things off to gain the Mature rating, in the United Kingdom the company really had a challenge on its hands. The British rating board, the BBFC, denied the game a rating and said that it would not be sold on the territory of the country.

After this decision was made, Rockstar took the board to court where, after a very lengthy battle, with appeals and accusations from both sides, the game seemed to be doomed to not appear in the UK stores, but on the last appeal to the Video Appeals Committee, the title was finally given the green light for release in the United Kingdom

It will go on sale on a quite characteristic date, October 31, which is Halloween, and it will be available on the PlayStation 2, the PlayStation Portable and the Wii. It will be priced at 29.99 pounds for the PS2, 24.99 pounds for the PSP and finally, for the Wii, 34.99 pounds.

For those of you who don't know, Manhunt 2 is the sequel to one of the most successful horror action games. Although it promised to bring an even more horrific gameplay experience to eager gamers, it was received with mixed reviews, many of which claiming that the story didn't get you involved as the first one, and that the AI system wasn't that bright. All in all, it seems that British gamers can finally get themselves frightened with this title.
