Two new handsets from HTC are now available for purchase in Malaysia, the Windows Mobile-based HTC HD Mini and the Android-powered HTC Legend. The Taiwanese mobile phone maker recently announced their availability on the local market, while also unveiling the fact that HD Mini is priced at RM 1,799 and that Legend sports a retail price of RM 1,999 (both come with a 2GB microSD card included in the package).

The HTC HD Mini was unveiled as the successor of the high-end HTC HD2. It includes a capacitive touchscreen display, 3G broadband connectivity, Wi-Fi connectivity (with hotspot capabilities), complete Outlook integration, HTC Peep (HTC’s Windows-based Twitter application), and HTC Sense, the user experience focused on putting people at the center.

“The demand for the HTC HD2 has exceeded our expectations, and the HTC HD mini fulfills a desire from some customers to bring the capabilities and experience of the HTC HD2 to a more compact design,” said Jack Tong, VP of HTC Asia. “The integration of HTC Sense and Windows Phone on HD mini and HD2 gives customers an additional choice for an advanced Windows Mobile phone that is sleek, well crafted and easy to use.”

HTC Legend comes to the market with a unique design, being built from a single aluminum block. It runs under the Android 2.1 operating system from Google, with the Sense solution thrown into the mix. The phone includes a 3.2 inch AMOLED touchscreen display, which boasts an HVGA resolution and features an optical joystick surrounded by a narrow button for enhanced usability.

Both devices sport the improved HTC Sense from the handset vendor. Developed around three main principles, Make It Mine, Stay Close and Discover the Unexpected, the solution aims at making the phone work in a more natural way. Moreover, they offer access to a wide range of applications via the Windows Marketplace for Mobile, for HD Mini, and via the Android Market, for the HTC Legend.

“At its essence, the mobile phone is the most personal item you have in your possession. HTC Sense was created to magnify your ability to create and define your own unique mobile experience,” said Jack Tong, VP of HTC Asia. “HTC Legend takes Android to another level in both substance with HTC Sense and style with HTC Legend’s revolutionary crafted aluminum uni-body design.”
