Taiwanese mobile phone maker HTC unveiled today its first mobile phone that will come to the market running under Windows Mobile 6.5 right from the start, the HTC Touch2. The new smartphone, the company says, features integration with the latest services announced by Microsoft, including My Phone and Windows Marketplace for Mobile, and provides a full-touch interface.

“The HTC Touch2 delivers a familiar touch experience that millions of people have come to expect and rely on from HTC in their daily lives,” said Peter Chou, Chief Executive Officer, HTC Corporation. “Whether it’s making a call, checking in with a friend or simply responding to an important email, the HTC Touch2 puts you in touch and in control.”

According to HTC, the new Touch2 comes with a wide range of enhancements, meant to provide users with all that they need. The smartphone comes with the company's TouchFLO interface, and delivers fast access to a wide range of information (weather updates) or applications. Moreover, the new mobile phone also comes with support for popular services, including Google Maps for Mobile, YouTube and other more.

The Windows Mobile 6.5 operating system is also set to provide users with a wide range of features, including messaging, browsing and productivity capabilities. For example, those who will choose a Windows phone will enjoy Microsoft Exchange synchronization, with the possibility to manage more than one email account at a time.

Other goodies that the HTC Touch2 will bring along include the already announced re-designed Internet Explorer Mobile, with support for Adobe Flash, a zoom bar to enhance the usage, access to a wide range of applications through the Windows Marketplace for Mobile, or the possibility to freely back up and synch photos, music, contacts and text messages though Microsoft's MyPhone service.

The new HTC Touch2 is expected to come to the market on October 6, the same date Microsoft announced the market availability of its Windows Mobile 6.5 operating system. Although the mobile phone maker unveiled that the device would reach various European and Asian markets at the beginning of the fourth quarter, no details on its pricing have been disclosed.
