Both Windows Mobile-based handsets

Although HTC is the first mobile phone maker to have launched an Android-powered handset on the market, it still remains the vendor with the largest number of phones released under Microsoft's Windows Mobile operating system. The HTC Snap, Touch Pro2 and Diamond2 are currently the last in the series, yet it seems that they will soon be followed by some other WM phones, namely the recently leaked HTC Leo and Mega.

The most interesting of the two seems to be the HTC Leo, which has been recently rumored to come to the market with a Qualcomm Snapdragon platform on board, while running under the 6.5 flavor of the operating system. The combination between the two might prove to be the most fortunate one, as the device will be a rather powerful one when it will come to the market. Until that happens, we can take a look at a supposedly leaked photo with it, which has surfaced recently on HTCpedia.

Along with the rendering of the handset a series of specifications were also unveiled, and they seem to confirm what people were already expecting. The Snapdragon MSM 8250 CPU at 1Ghz is on top of the list, along with 512MB ROM, 320MB RAM, a 4.3-inch capacitive touchscreen display that can boast a 480 x 800 pixel resolution, an 8-megapixel photo snapper with auto focus, Bluetooth 2.1, Wi-Fi connectivity, a 3.5mm headset jack, GSM/EDGE, HSDPA, accelerometer, motion and light sensors, and a microSD memory card slot for additional storage space.

Nothing specific on the device has surfaced until now from the Taiwanese company, yet it is expected to announce the new smartphone before the end of the year. Until it does so, we should take a look at some diagrams with yet another Windows Mobile-based handset from HTC, namely the Touch Diamond2, which should soon reach Verizon's offering as the Whitestone. The images surfaced via WMExperts, and they show a handset that might prove a media-centric one.

What users should get with the Whitestone, in case the phone comes to the market as showed here, is the 3.5mm jack everybody has been talking about lately, a dedicated “multimedia” button, and a stylus. Verizon is said to launch the HTC Touch Diamond2 sometime in October, which means that more details on its capabilities should surface in the near future. Stay tuned to learn more on this as soon as info becomes available.
