Wireless mobile phone maker HTC released today on its airwaves one of the nicest handsets unveiled this year, the HTC Touch Pro2. Powered by Microsoft's Windows Mobile 6.1 operating system (though it will be upgraded to WM 6.5 in the near future), the handset was announced to become available for purchase in the US via T-Mobile a while ago, and today is the big day for enthusiasts.

For the time being the device is available in the US only with T-Mobile, which sells it for no less than $349.99 upon the signing of a two-year contract agreement. The high price tag is what most people have already been expecting, and we must say that, although the phone is surely worth every penny, it seems a little too much when compared to other high-end mobile phones available at the moment, including the Apple iPhone or the Palm Pre.

The HTC Touch Pro2 comes to the market with an attractive TouchFlo 3D interface, as well as with HTC's Straight Talk technology, a 3.2-megapixel photo snapper with video recording capabilities, a touchscreen display coupled with a side-sliding QWERTY keyboard, IM, SMS, MMS and email capabilities, great connectivity options, a series of entertainment features, and a microSD memory card slot for additional storage space.

The handset is indeed expensive, yet its functionalities might turn it into a great option for business users out there. The mobile phone carrier might drop the price for the HTC Touch Pro2 quite soon, for the device is expected to become available through other carriers in the country too, including AT&T, Sprint and Verizon. Either that or the fact that the phone won't register great traction among the operator's subscribers might be a good reason for the company to do this. One way or the other, those interested in purchasing the new Windows Mobile phone will find it listed on T-Mobile's website here.
