HTC announced recently that the Touch Diamond2 mobile phone would become available in Taiwan later this month, and that it would feature a price tag of NT$21,900 with an 8G memory card included in the package. At the same time, the device would sport HTC's latest TouchFLO 3D user interface, while running under the Windows Mobile 6.1 operating system.

According to the Taiwanese mobile phone maker, the new HTC Touch Diamond2 as well as the upcoming HTC Touch Pro2 are evidence of the company's new people-centric communication approach, as they will feature a deep integration of the TouchFLO 3D with the operating system, offer a single contact view displaying the conversation history, be it voice, text or mail, and provide a much easier and more intuitive navigation, including quick access to people, messaging, email, photos, music and weather.

The HTC Touch Diamond2 also includes HTC's Push Internet technology, offering users the possibility to preselect their favorite Websites so as to be provided with immediate access to them. The touchscreen smartphone comes with a 3.2-inch wide-screen VGA display, able to offer a 480 x 800 inch resolution, included in a design that is only 13.7mm thick. At the same time, it sports a new touch sensitive zoom bar that is meant to deliver faster zooming of Web pages, photos, emails, text messages or documents.

A 5-megapixel photo snapper, expandable memory, ambient light sensor and accelerometer are also on the phone's specification list, along with a Qualcomm MSM7200A, 528 MHz processor 512 MB ROM, 288 MB RAM and a 1100mAh Li-Ion battery that is able to offer a 50-percent longer lifetime than its predecessor. The Touch Diamond2 measures 4.25 X 2.09 X 0.54 inches, weighs 4.15 ounces, and it is able to offer sophisticated capabilities to a wide range of consumers, all packed inside a smartphone that doesn't sacrifice size, looks or functionality.
