Today, Taiwanese mobile phone maker HTC Corporation announced officially that it plans on making the HTC 7 Pro and HTC Gratia available for purchase in the UK starting with the next month, February 2011.

The company is already selling a range of smartphones on the UK market, and the new phones, one based on Windows Phone 7, the other on Android, should add more value to the offering, HTC announced.

“We are proud to be able to add two new phones to our already diverse UK product portfolio,” said Jon French, executive director, HTC UK, Ireland and South Africa.

“Both phones offer the stand-out design and innovation for which HTC has become renowned. With the fresh and exciting mobile experience of the Windows Phone 7 platform, HTC 7 Pro is for users who want to combine the ultimate in business efficiency with the ability to take full advantage of their leisure time.”

The elegant HTC Gratia is designed for those people looking for a compact yet powerful Android smartphone.”

The HTC 7 Pro is the first QWERTY slider the company launches with Windows Phone 7 on board. It packs great business features, along with powerful multimedia capabilities, and more.

The phone sports a 3.6-inch touchscreen display, a fast 1GHz application processor, Dolby Mobile and SRS WOW HD, support for Xbox LIVE, Windows Live, Bing and Zune, and for various applications and content available for download via the Windows phone Marketplace.

The handset would also include the unique Hub and Tile interface of Windows Phone 7, with access to the exclusive applications and utilities available in the HTC Hub, including a weather and stocks application, a photo enhancer, and more.

“Available in Pearl White, the HTC Gratia is sleek and lightweight – measuring just over four inches in length, weighing 4.06 ounces and featuring a seamless, rubberized and beveled back cover that opens to show a vibrant yellow inner chassis,” the company notes.

The handset runs under Google's Android 2.2 operating system, complemented by the HTC Sense UI, which also brings forth the Friend Stream, an app aimed at keeping users close to their friends via Facebook, Twitter and Flickr.

HTC 7 Pro will be released in the UK in February via Brightpoint GB and Brightstar, while the HTC Gratia would become available through Brightstar only.
