Canadian mobile phone carrier Virgin mobile is gearing up for the release of a new, highly appealing Android-based smartphone on its airwaves, the HTC Incredible S.

The handset was already rumored to be on its way to the Canadian market on the airwaves of this wireless carrier, after being confirmed to arrive at other operators in the country too, including Bell and SaskTel. HTC Incredible S' arrival at Virgin Mobile in Canada was already confirmed via a recent tweet.

“The buzz is true! we'll be launching the htc incredible s soon. stay tuned for updates,” the wireless services provider announced via Twitter.

The company did not unveil other info on the new device for the time being, nor on the price tag it might feature when made available.

However, we should note that Bell is set to make it available for purchase on its network on April 4th priced at $499.95.

A leaked screenshot of Virgin's inventory shows that the handset might feature a similar price at this wireless carrier as well, namely $499.99.

No info on the launch date for Incredible S at Virgin Mobile emerged for the time being, but rumor has it that it might become available for purchase either the same day as at bell, or shortly after.

For those out of the loop, we should note that the HTC Incredible S was launched in February during the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, and that it is one of the latest handsets HTC has brought to the market.

Already available for purchase in several countries around the world, the new device sports a 1GHz application processor, 768 MB of RAM, a 4-inch touchscreen display, and the Android 2.2 Froyo operating system on board.

Moreover, the new device comes with an 8 megapixel camera on the back, 1.3 megapixel front-facing camera for video calling, WiFi and Bluetooth connectivity, and the whole range of usual sensors.

It would also pack a 1450 mAh battery inside, as well as a microSD memory card slot for additional storage space.
