Mobile phone carrier Verizon Wireless is reportedly set to make a new HTC Android smartphone available for purchase in its DROID series in the near future, namely the HTC Incredible 2, and it seems that the company is already making room for it.

The original HTC Incredible, the predecessor of the upcoming DROID Incredile 2, is no longer available for purchase at Big Red, less than a year since it was launched.

When having a look at Verizon's page listing Android-based devices on its airwaves, one would see that the DROID Incredible is no longer listed among them.

The carrier's brick and mortar stores around the country might still have some Incredible units in stock, but it might not be too long before they sell all of them.

Some of the latest reports around the Internet suggest that this would be a clear indicator that the carrier is getting ready for the launch of a new Incredible model, just as previously rumored.

Moreover, some of the latest reports on the matter suggest that the device might be set to make an official appearance at Big Red at the end of April, though an official confirmation on this did not emerge for the time being.

The new Incredible 2 would arrive at Verizon with some hardware enhancements over the previous device, including a bigger screen, more RAM, support for global connectivity, and more.

The new device was launched during the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona as the HTC Incredible S, provided that it is indeed the Incredible 2 that would land at Verizon.

The original DROID Incredible was said to be on its way to receive an upgrade to the new Android 2.3 Gingerbread operating system in the following months.

Verizon did not comment on the matter for the time being, but it might not be too long before it makes an announcement on the new Incredible 2, so stay tuned for more.
