HTC Hero, the latest mobile phone the Taiwanese company HTC Corporation launched into the wild with Google's Android operating system, seems ready to go stateside, as it has just been spotted in FCC's courtyard, where it has received the approval for use in the country. Moreover, it looks like the most probable operator to carry the handset will be AT&T, as the pieces of information coming from FCC unveiled.

For what it's worth, it seems that no one had any idea that the phone would come to the country in such short notice, since the handset maker hadn't stated anything at launch about a North American version of the device. According to the news, the HTC Hero that passed through FCC's courtyard packed support for 850/1900 MHz 3G bands, the frequencies used by AT&T, which suggests that the device has all chances to be added to the carrier's lineup.

There are no exact details that this will actually happen, but all info available points towards it. At the same time, there are also great chances that the phone will come to Canada, though no pieces of information on anything related to the launch north of the US have emerged so far. To put it simpler, the only thing that is certain is that the FCC gave its blessing, which means that there shouldn't be too long before an official announcement on the availability emerges.

While European mobile phone users will be able to enjoy the features available with HTC Hero as soon as this month, it might still take a while before the North American version hits the market. The device, the third Android phone launched by HTC, comes with a new UI from the company, while also offering a series of improvements compared to previous models, so it should see a lot of traction from users when it will be available for purchase.
